Lucien Louis Blandin
November 7, 1927 – December 28, 2021

The family of Lucien Blandin mourns his loss on December 28, 2021, at Humboldt District Hospital in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He was 94 years of age. Lucien was born in St. Brieux, SK, to Pierre and Delima (née Legare) Blandin. His school years were spent at St. Brieux and Miora Lake. On New Year’s Eve, 1951, he married Nellie Piatt in St. Brieux, and their family was blessed with two children, Edward (January 29, 1953), and Patricia (October 5, 1955). His work career spanned several locations including Shell Canada (10 years), the RM of Flett Springs (10 years), and finally Marcel Fagnou Farms where he was in his glory “driving combine.” Lucien enjoyed going to chuckwagon and chariot races, and he made a hobby of driving chariot himself. While he was known as an avid fisherman and gardener, his most cherished times were those spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucien will be remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 70 years, Nellie (née Piatt) Blandin of Humboldt; daughter Pat (John) Wendt of Humboldt; grandson Steven of Saskatoon; daughter-in-law Marion of Humboldt; granddaughters Kim, and Crystal, and their families; two brothers; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ed; his parents Pierre and Delima (née Legare) Blandin; one brother and one sister; parents-in-law Harry and Amelia Piatt; and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law; and many cousins. The Graveside Service for Lucien was held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at St. Brieux Roman Catholic Cemetery, and officiated by Fr. Tru Le, and Nellie Blandin was the urn bearer. A time of fellowship with coffee and doughnuts was held after the graveside service, at the Senior Citizen’s Centre in St. Brieux.
