With summer almost in full swing, the Humboldt Golf Club is gearing up for one its busiest weekends of the year.

The annual Father's Day tournament will tee up at the golf course on Saturday and Sunday with two player scramble.

Golfing during the third weekend of June has been a long-standing tradition in Humboldt, as GM Corey Schweitzer explains that tournament began in 1990, marking the first year the Charles and Edward Weninger Memorial Trophy was handed out to the winners.

Since 2003, the Norm Angelstad Trophy has been awarded to the top father-son duo for the weekend.

This year there are 156 golfers competing in the tournament, but Schweitzer noted they have room for a couple more teams if they are interested.

Before the golfing gets underway on the weekend, the Humboldt Golf Club Community Event Centre will be hosting the Battle of the Bulls Afterparty Cabaret with Darryl Anderson beginning at 9:30.
