“Terry” Taras Victor James Ochitwa
May 19, 1949 – October 28, 2023

“Terry” Taras Ochitwa was born to Edward and Jean (née Troop) Ochitwa on May 19, 1949, in Watson, Saskatchewan. He attended Islay School from grades one to three, and then he was bussed to Quill Lake for the remainder of his school years where he graduated in 1967. In the spring of 1970, he met the love of his life Linda Joyce Stuckel and married on April 22, 1972, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish in Watson, SK. Terry then left home and worked as a surveyor in Meath Park, Humboldt, Watson, SK, and Lynn Lake, MB. He also worked for the RM of Lakeside as a grader operator, and in 1972 started with the Saskatchewan Department of Highways. He worked there until 2007 when he retired after 35 years. Terry was never one for a dull moment, so in 1975 he decided to join the mixed family farm operation while continuing full-time work with the highway department. They resided in Humboldt, SK in 1973 where their oldest daughter Darcie was born in 1975. They then moved to Watson, SK in 1976 where the twins Jodie and Carie were born in 1978. The family moved out to the farm east of Watson in 1985, and in the spring of 1987, they welcomed their fourth child Desie. Terry and his family worked on the farm until 1997, and then in 1998 decided to settle for good in the town of Watson. Terry found time to serve his community in many ways including being involved with Watson/Englefeld Wildlife Federation and as a trainer for the AA Watson Rockets, where he was known as “Doc” or “Ooch”. Hockey was his passion and he spent many years making and meeting many special friends along the way. Hunting and fishing became some of Terry’s best times and cherished taking the boat out or spending great times out in the bush with friends and family. Terry lived life to the fullest. He and Linda enjoyed taking many trips on their bikes down to Sturgis and across Canada. Family was also very important to Terry. He spent countless hours with his children and grandchildren watching hockey, fastball, volleyball, dance, track, or curling and loved every minute cheering them on, from near or from far. Giving advice was one of Terry’s top priorities and his conversations will continue to impact the lives for all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Terry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by: his wife of 51 years Linda, and their four children and nine grandchildren: Darcie (Brad) Anderson of Quill Lake, their daughters: Selena (Tynan) and Kiera; Jodie (Blair) Griller of Quill Lake, their daughters: Payton and Jorja; Carie Ochitwa of Tofield, AB, children: Brodie, Madison, and Brooklyn; Desie (Katelynn) Ochitwa of Watson, their children: Weslie and Jaycie; his mother, Jean Ochitwa; his five siblings: Michael, Paul, Betty, Andy, and Tim; sisters-in-law Kathy Fetter and Ruthy (Perry) Anderson; and special Uncle Orest Ochitwa. He was predeceased by: his father, Edward Ochitwa. The Celebration of Life took place on Saturday, November 4, 2023 - 1:30 p.m. at the Watson Civic Centre, Watson, SK. Eulogies were given by Selena Anderson, Kiera Anderson, Payton Griller, Jorja Griller, Weslie Ochitwa, and Jaycie Ochitwa. Honorary pallbearers were “All those who have shared in Terry’s Life”.
