The Muenster Elks Steak Supper is back for its 26th year. The popular spring time repast and gathering goes on Saturday, April 23 at the Muenster Community Hall. The hall has been quiet for the last couple of years, but it’s refreshed and ready for diners once again.

Gord Kiefer is one of the organizers for the Steak Supper.

“It’s looking like we’re jumping right back into things,” says Kiefer. “It’s our 26th, and it’s been wonderfully well supported. All the Elks are back on board and ready to cook up some great steaks.”

Along with a 12 oz. cooked to order steak, all the trimmings are there including baked potatoes, salads, desserts, all with the friendly table service patrons have come to expect.

It’s also one of the first chances for the public to check out the Muenster Community Hall after the installation of its elevator, says Kiefer.

“It’s a great feature so that anyone at the Muenster Hall can get upstairs, and that makes more room for spacing people out. It makes it a great meal for everyone.”

In the COVID-imposed off season, things have been quiet for the Elks in terms of their ability to fundraise. The organization continued with its charitable work, but the lack of gatherings made its traditional avenues tough. Nevertheless, adaptability is the watchword for the Elks.

“We did a take-out/drive-thru rib supper last year that was wonderfully supported by the whole area,” Kiefer says. That kept the coffers going until the return of this year’s supper and other community based events.

The Elks Lodge is based in Muenster but it boasts members from Humboldt, St. Gregor and surrounding rurals. Its focus on charitable work has extended throughout the region.

“We support everything from music festivals, families in need, the Villa, the Hospital Foundation, all kinds of community projects and renovations. We really do support the Humboldt and Muenster area with all of our fundraising.”

Tickets are going fast, says Gord, so don’t miss out on partaking in one of the key events of spring at the Muenster Steak Supper. Serving starts at 4:45 pm on Saturday, April 23. Tickets are available at the Muenster Co-op and the Uptown Barber Shop in Humboldt.
