It's gold for Humboldt's Brianne Theisen-Eaton at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

The 27 year-old got off to a great start running a personal best 8.05 seconds in the 60 metre hurdles. The first place finish in that event earned her 1120 points.

That was proceeded by a fourth place finish in the high jump. She maxed out at 1.85 metres, that generated another 1041 points.

In the third of five events, the shot put, the Humboldt Collegiate Institute graduate placed fifth with a throw of 13.7 metres, good enough for another 774 points.

The long jump was the second last competition, she rebounded picking up 981 points for her jump of 6.42 metres.

She was in third place, 150 back of Ukrainian Anastasiya Mokhnyuk going into the final event, the 800 metre.

Thankfully the running event is one of her strengths. She needed to beat Mokhnyuk by over 11 seconds in the final event, which she did. Her 2:09:99 was almost 14 seconds faster.

The final event win gave her 965 points for a total of 4881 and the first place finish to claim gold just 34 points ahead of Mokhnyuk. That was also a new personal best.

The win in Portland is one step above the silver she brought home in 2014 at the same event.
