A one-thousand strong contingent of students and advisors marched down Main Street Watrous in a parade to celebrate the kick-off of the 2019 Saskatchewan Student Leadership Conference. Led by hosts from Winston High School in Watrous under the banner of “Take Action”, the line of participants on September 18 stretched the length of Main Street and wound its way to the Watrous Curling Rink for a red-carpet kick-off.

While there was strong representation from local area schools such as Viscount, Humboldt Collegiate, and of course Winston High School, delegates came from far and wide. The eastern part of the province was represented by communities such as Carlyle, Esterhazy and Langenburg. From the west were schools such as Kindersley Composite and Carpenter High School in Meadow Lake.

Students paraded onto the red-carpet in the curling rink amid lighting efforts, giant broadcast screens, and energizing techno-beats. 107.5 Bolt FM was on hand to interview the entrants “Hollywood Style” as the gathering anxiously awaited the event’s official launch from the stage.

Local entertainment and keynote speaker Huston Kraft were part of the mix for what can only be described, in Hollywood blockbuster terms, as electrifying.

The event continues through to Friday, September 20.
