LARRY WIEGERS
September 20, 1945 – October 4, 2018

Larry Wiegers of Lanigan, SK passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He was 73 years of age. Larry Leo Wiegers was born in Humboldt, SK on September 20, 1945 and passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018 at his home in Lanigan, SK. He grew up on a farm outside of Muenster, SK. He was the second of ten children born to Vincent and Ruth (nee Steil) Wiegers. Growing up Larry was passionate about playing hockey, baseball and dancing. A born salesman, he owned a furniture store and worked with his father for several years in Lanigan, SK. Later, he moved to Saskatoon and sold life insurance. He was charismatic and loved surrounding himself with people. One of his favourite activities was going to dances. His door was always open for company. Larry was a passionate animal lover, especially his dogs Buddy and Sandy. Larry will be sadly missed by his wife of 12 years, Louise Wiegers and his four children, two step-children, and ten grandchildren: Shannon (Jeff) Katliff and their children Jonathan and Luke; Dean Wiegers and his children Zane, Chase, and Tyus; Tammy (Robert) Frank and their children Boden and Neslin; Penny (Trung) Ly and their children Jade and Alyssa; and Louise’s sons: Jason (Crystal) Curtin and their son Michael; Leonard Curtin. Larry is also survived by his siblings: Rodger (Yvonne) Wiegers, Mary (Kurt) Wagner, Doreen (Joe) Wiegers, Clifford (Debbie) Wiegers, Vince Jr. (Naomi) Wiegers, Norman (Jacquie) Wiegers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Ruth (nee Steil) Wiegers, sisters: Bernice Mehr and Joan Wiegers; and brother James Wiegers. A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lanigan SK on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Greg Smith-Windsor. Others taking part were: Boden Frank, crossbearer; Zane Wiegers and Chase Wiegers, scripture readers; Jade Ly, intentions; Alyssa Ly, Neslin Frank, Tyus Wiegers and Michael Curtin, giftbearers; St. Mary’s Parish Choir, music ministry; Dean Wiegers, eulogist. Honorary Pallbearers were: Rodger Wiegers, Mary Wagner, Doreen Wiegers, Clifford Wiegers, Vincent Wiegers, and Norman Wiegers. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Lanigan, SK.
