Jayden Bindig and his Wadena based curling team were the first to claim their spot in the Junior Provincial Championship.

Bindig's foursome, which has Humboldt's Braden Fleischhacker playing second, went unbeaten at the first qualifying spiel in Regina.

After winning their first two games, Bindig defeated defending champion Rylan Kleiter in the 'A' semifinal before knocking off Travis Tokarz 5-4 in the final.

The win gives them an automatic berth to provincials, which runs December 27 to 31 in Regina.

On the women's side, Wadena's Karla Friesen lost out in the 'C' bracket. They will have two more chances to qualify for provincials.

Saskatoon's Chaelynn Kitz with Pleasantdale's Rikki Schick won the 'B' event to clinch their spot in December's championship.
