As the Humboldt Broncos get set to step on the ice for playoff hockey, off the ice, their most important fundraiser is in its early stages.

The Broncos Lottery of Cash is back once again, giving ticket buyers the opportunity to support the club's financial status, as well as potentially win cash prizes.

"The lottery of cash is really the heartbeat of the Humboldt Broncos. It's one of our longest fundraisers, and this is the 24th year it has been running," says Business Manager Chris Beaudry. "More than that, it helps with the social dynamics of the team."

Beaudry refers to a classic song played at home games that revs up the team's younger fan base.

"You get to see young fans out at every game waving their shirts around for Cotton Eye Joe. Without the team they wouldn't be able to have that experience if the team wasn't here, and so this lottery makes all that possible."

Tickets are currently on sale for the early bird draw coming up on March 31, which will award a $10,000 prize. Beaudry says that tickets must be purchased by March 29 at 7:00pm to be eligible.

Regular ticket sales are cut off on April 27 at midnight, with the $100,000 grand prize draw on April 29.

There is also a 50/50 option for purchase, where up to $72,500 could be won.

Each year the team does call outs to past ticket purchasers reminding them of the lottery's return.

Beaudry says that they're always looking for volunteers to help make the calls, which are done out of the Humboldt Mall on weeknights.

Those interested in helping out can contact the Broncos office at 306-682-5575.
