The Humboldt Fire Department just returned from battling a blaze that is thought to be started from a cigarette butt.  Fire Chief Mike Kwasnica, "We had 10 members on scene for a fire that was believed to be started by a discarded cigarette. Also I would like to remind everyone that when passing an emergency vehicle to slow down to 60km/h."

The fire crew was on site for six hours fighting the flames and cleaning up.

A grass fire ignited April 22 east of Muenster Saskatchewan on the north side of the highway.
The Humboldt Fire Department responded to the call at approximately 1:30 pm on Monday afternoon to extinguish the blaze.

Two trucks and the Kabota were at the scene to control the flames. The area the fire was in was a grassy area with planted trees. The highway was not shut down however, drivers had to proceed with caution as emergency crews were parked on the road and fighting the fire near the edge road and in the ditch.

Remember the legal speed limit for passing emergency crews is 60km/h.
