Despite a rainy week, there was some progress on the 2017 harvest in the Humboldt area.

Seventy-seven percent of the crop is now combined, which is up from 72 percent last week, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report.

An additional 16 percent of the crop is swathed or ready to straight-cut.

Topsoil moisture conditions have improved with rainfall, though more amounts are needed to help replenish what was lost over the summer.

Cropland rates are one percent surplus, 38 percent adequate, 36 percent short, and 25 percent very short.

Rainfall amounts in the area ranged from seven to 35 millimetres.

The report says that there were some nights that saw frost on the crops, but little damage has taken place, as crops were advanced enough.

Provincially, 78 percent of the crop is in the bin. Harvest is furthest ahead in the southwest, where 92 percent has been completed.
