The City of Humboldt will start removing the ice from the Elgar Petersen Arena on Friday morning.

“We understand that removing of the ice will be symbolic in different ways for different people in our community," City Manager Joe Day said in a news release.

“We want to allow individuals and groups the opportunity to visit the arena prior the ice being removed.”

Access to the arena, including the ice surface, will still be made available to those wishing to come pay their respects until Thursday, April 26th at 9 p.m.

In addition to the flowers at centre ice, the banners, flags and posters that have been received from dozens of organizations from around the world to show support for the Broncos and Humboldt have been put on display on the arena glass.

No events or ceremonies are planned at the Elgar Petersen Arena in advance of the removal of the ice, but people are welcome to visit the facility during regular facility hours over the next few days, the release said.
