Like many businesses and agencies, Saskatchewan Government Insurance has had to adapt its models of operation. While licensing agents have generally closed to the public except by appointment in some offices, the licensing requirements for operation of motor vehicles continue to be met. Some services have been cancelled with deferrals or extensions possible.

SGI encourages contact with their offices and motor licensing issuers by telephone or email, and it reminds patrons about online options through MySGI.ca. The online service can handle registration renewals and cancellations, eligibility declarations, licence payments, auto claims and scheduling appointments for written driving exams.

While written exams are still available in some centres by appointment, all in-car road tests have been temporarily suspended, and no new test appointments are being scheduled. Customers whose previous appointments were cancelled will be given priority once road testing can resume.

For drivers who have been mandated to complete driver improvement courses or impaired driving education courses prior to March 15, the course deadline date has been extended as those programs have been cancelled as well.

In person vehicle claims and adjustment appointments have been suspended as well. However, SGI will continue to provide service to customers who have lost access to their vehicles due to collision.

SGI has also undertaken financial relief measures for customers facing challenges. Those customers seeking advice or support on the financial front are advised to contact SGI’s Customer Service Centre at 1-844-855-2744.
