Excellent teachers received Excellence Awards at the beginning of the school year.

Wendy Gottselig is a grade 5-6 teacher from William Derby School in Strasbourg, SK and was in a group of 5 teachers from Horizon School Divison that received an Excellence in Teaching Award this year.

Gottselig is in her 30th year teaching for the Horizon School Division and commented on her reaction to winning the award, "I actually cried, I was shocked that I could or would receive something of that nature."

She was nominated by Deb Schwandt-Kelln, who is the principal of the of William Derby School.

Gottselig says, "I like to be involved with the things going on in the school. I'm a student leader council advisor. In my classroom, I like to have a lot of fun we do a lot of games. My new class tells me I'm a little strict," as she laughs.

"I love my students, I love my staff and I love my school," said Gottselig.

Gottselig joins Matthew Tan of Watrous Elementary and Carla Lone of Drake School. We will be featuring a different recipient throughout the rest of the week.
