In what can only be described as a contest of wills, the Humboldt Broncos skated off the ice in the early hours of this morning with a 3-2 triple overtime victory against the Melfort Mustangs in their herculean semi-final matchup.

The Broncos staved off a couple power plays while looking to capitalize on their own in the first that ended in a scoreless draw. Travis Bryson went to work quickly, picking a puck up off the boards and beating Mustangs goalie James Venne on the far side for a lead just 20 seconds into the 2nd period. Then the Broncos got into trouble on a Mustangs power play where Logan Cox pushed the puck past Ben Motew in a scramble to tie.

In the third, Melfort took advantage of an odd bounce off the back boards on a power play to take their first lead of the evening. The EPA filled with electric tension and erupted when Travis Bryson tied it with his second on the night.

Then an end-to-end marathon ensued all the way into the third period of overtime when Cage Newans, on a Humboldt power play, wrapped things up just after midnight.

Needless to say, tonight's game 4 will be a must see. Get your seats at the EPA for what's sure to be another house rocking contest.
